The collection, housed at the Plumas County Museum in Quincy, CA, spans more than 100 years in the life of one family. The first portion of the collection, presented here, details James Haun and son John’s experiences in the California gold fields, John’s later career as a Confederate cavalrymen, and his subsequent incarceration as a POW at Camp Chase in Ohio, as well as the lives of the wives, mothers and sweethearts at home.

In this space you will find the same archival records presented in both exact text and corrected versions. Tell us what you think at hauncollection@gmail.com.
