Tuesday 1 – Nothing new today. Ground sluiced in the same place all day.
Wednesday 2 – Nothing interesting today. Ground sluiced in the forenoon and helped Pa and Shaw move a large boulder. Set the boxes ready for shoveling in. Not very well today, sick with the dysentery. All of the company went to the Point after supper except Lloyd and I. Nothing more today.
Thursday 3 – Clear in the forenoon, but cloudy in the evening. Shoveled in the boxes. Pa received a letter from home.1 Our water is failing very fast—not enough to fill the pipe. Nothing new today.
Friday 4 – Cloudy and warm all day. Took out $18 today. Pa and Shaw made good wages today. They went to the Point after supper. Unwell today with dysentery.
Saturday 5 – Took out about $15. Pa and Shaw made big wages today. Nothing new today.
Sunday 6 – Started for the valley, all of us with some picks. Got there early in the fore noon, stayed until after dinner and started home. Nothing else today.
Monday 7 – Set boxes in the forenoon. Took out $5.50. Pa and Shaw went to grinding the axes to build a reservoir. Worked at it in the afternoon. Went to the ranch after supper, Lloyd being at the Point on a spree.
Tuesday 8 – Went to work on the reservoir, all of us. Lloyd still on a spree. All of the company went to the Point after supper except myself. I commenced a letter to a friend but did not finish it.
Wednesday 9 – A pleasant breeze stirring all day, also a little cloudy. Worked on the reservoir, except Lloyd, he being on a spree. Nothing else new today.
Thursday 10 – Went to washing today for gold and took out $7. The reservoir leaked very badly. Pa and Shaw went to the Point after supper. Lloyd got back from his spree.
Friday 11 – Nothing new today. Worked all day stopping holes in the reservoir and leaks. Wrote some in my letter. No more today.
Saturday 12 – Worked in the diggings and Lloyd with us. Took out $41. The company, except Lloyd and I, went to the Point after supper. Nothing else.
Sunday 13 – Nothing particularly new today. Done some washing and mending in the forenoon. All of us went to the ranch to see a hole some men were sinking with our rope and windless. Pa and Shaw went to the Point after dinner and I went before sunset to post a letter in the express.
Monday 14 – Lloyd and I went to stripping in the same place. Pa and Shaw made good wages.
Tuesday 15 – Still stripping, Lloyd and myself. Pa and Shaw made good wages today.
Wednesday 16 – Still stripping today. Pa and Shaw made good wages. We set our boxes in the evening and went to the ranch for milk. Pa and Shaw went to the Point after supper.
Thursday 17 – Washed all day, took out $8. Pa and Shaw made big wages. Went after milk after work. The water is failing very fast. Nothing more.
Friday 18 – Still working today and took out $15.50 all of us went to the Point after supper, except Lloyd. Nothing else today.
Saturday 19 – Washed today and took out $28. Pa and Shaw took out $69. All of us went to the Point after supper except Lloyd. Nothing else today.
Sunday 20 – Windy in the forenoon, but a pretty day for all. Pa and Shaw went to the Point before dinner and Lloyd and I went after. Done some washing in the forenoon. Stayed at the Point until nearly sunset. Went for milk. No more.
Monday 21 – Cloudy in the forenoon. Also rained a light shower all morning but cleared off in the afternoon. Took out $14.50. Nothing else today.
Tuesday 22 – Cloudy in the forenoon and looked much like rain, but none. Took out $20. Pa and Shaw took out 6 oz $1.50. Pa and Shaw went to Point after supper.
Wednesday 23 – Took out $15 today. Pa and Shaw made good wages. Very cool in the morning, but pleasant the balance of the day. Nothing else today.
Thursday 24 – Cool in the morning but warm all day. Took out $35.50 all together $1.25. Pa and Shaw went to the Point after supper. Nothing else.
Friday 25 – Worked all day as usual. Cleaned up all of the riffles and got $19. Went to stripping in the evening and took out in all $89. Nothing else.
Saturday 26 – Stripping under a large pine tree. Broke Shaws’ ax. I played well generally. Pa and Shaw took out $58. Pa and Shaw went to the Point after supper.
Sunday 27 – All of us dug a small ditch to get the seep water. Shaw and I went to the Point about noon and took dinner at Thompson’s2. Lloyd came down and got drunk as usual. Green McHatton came up early in the morning and stayed all day and night. Nothing of interest today.
Monday 28 – Shaw and I worked at the pipe cleaning bedrock. Took out $12. Pa worked with us in the evening and took out altogether $44. Lloyd done no work on account of his spree.
Tuesday 29 – Lloyd and I worked in the same place digging up a large pine tree by the roots but didn’t get it down. Pa and Shaw took out $29 today. They went to the Point after supper.
Wednesday 30 – Cool and cloudy in the forenoon, cool in the morning but pleasant about noon. Worked at the tree all day but did not get it down. Pa and Shaw took out $42. They went to Point after supper.
Friday 31 – Nothing uncommon today. Stripping as usual and not got down the tree yet. Pa and Shaw took out just 2 oz. Nothing else, I believe, today.
