April 56

Tu 15           I pd James Conat 500$
that was due on the ranch on
last evening took Hagans rect
as agent for Mrs. Jennings.
Early this morning I. Baloo &
Duesler went up to Massack dig
gins to see about the ditch &
tools & provisions. Late when
got back. I rode Firmans mule.
I then walkd up to Betsy town.
Borrowd 300$ of Dr. Cate at
three per cent per month & bou
ght a check of Buckholdr in
favor of H P Haun for 282 1/2$
payable in M Ville. I then got
some garden seeds cost 7 1/2$ home.

We 16         We did but little to day fin
ishd ploughing for grain & are
not able to plough the garden
with the ploughs we have as they
have been broke & will do so a
gain. I pd Judkins 75$ for seed
wheat & so forth. I was cleaning
up the trash & Lem to help me to
saw off logs. Frank harrowing.

April 56

Stinson put on one coat of pl
astering. Bill did not get a plough.
I wrote a letter to H.P. and send
him a check for 282 1/2$.

Th 17          I baught 415 lbs of potatoes
of I. Conant at 7 cts pre lb.
I sent Bill to Alfords for a
load of fencing planks & posts.
I finished sewing grain. I sent
Bill after 240 lbs moore of wheat
to Judkins, some harrowing
to do yet. Dave came over.
I paid a digger 3$ for triming
six pine trees. I got 2$ of Dave.

Fr 18           I baught 50 lbs nails 6$ &
got Tod to help me maje pl
ank fence, the boys were pil
ling up logs to burn. Finishd
harrowing in grain.

Sat 19         I finishd fencing up the
garden the rest sawing & put
ting up log heaps. O-Neal sent
me keg nails & 100 lbs flour.
