April 58

three picks cost 1 1/2$ each in all
4 1/2 dolls p.m. I had him to make
a claw to draw nails with 2$
for it John & Mack was fixing
the fence down the lain till noon
after the were halling wood for
Maston two loads wood 4 cords 6$

Tu 20           early. Watpain came with two
pack mules of Coffins to take
our grub & tools to the mines at
Willow Ranch Mack & I set out
after a short embrace of my wife
my blamketts & some of clo
thing was on hand. It has been 2
years since 10th last March we all
lef the same place to live in the
Am vally but what a change
Lizzy has ran off & got married
Dave is gone to Mville & John is
low spirited with his mother on the
ranch & she too, O God, is verry
un happy, I left her weeping —
we arrivd at the Cabbin about

about noon it was occupied
by two poor dirty miners, we
on packd the mules then took
out some provisions that wife
had prepard for us before we left
& sat down out of doors & eat
then cleand out the Cabbin & in fro
nt, put our things in, the went
out where these men were mining
saw them clean up had 9$.
spred my blankets on a verry nar
row bed stead woke up verry cold in
the kt, got another pair Blankets
& tride it again, but with no bet
ter success &c —

We 21         I & Mack went down to Rocky
Bar & dind with Kyler & Co after
he gave us cups & sucers knives &
spoons, 2 fry pans & Skillet, we put
for home, at Nelson Point we
got 10 1/2$ worth moore Grub & tools
so we put for the cabbin with our
packs, we took supper as our cookd
