April 1854

Sun 23       Cool Last kt the ground all coverd
with scow, the sun is shining
out warm & pleasant in deed. My
Lesson John XI chapt Lazarus raisd
from death. I & John went down
to the point & spent most of the day
there. Thompson told me that H. P.
had sent me a keg of fresh butter &
it was he said at the Lexington house
& he also told T, that he would send
me vegtables all summer. My
partner Dobson was here this eve
ning & said had got a man by
the name of Harvy to work in
his place for one half he is to
be here in the morning. I paid
50 cts for hand saw file.

Mo 24         Warm & pleasant in A.M. &
clowdy in P. M. commensd rain
ing late in evening & is still at
it yet. It is late John has just
finished baking three loves of bread.
Harvy came this morning but did
not go to work for Dobson,
but went off again.

April 1854

We were ground sloosing again. I
sent John down to the pint to see
if there was any letters for us, none.

We 25         Snowing this morning & was at it
all day with intervals of sun shine.
The snow was 3 inches deep this mor
ning & scearcely any to be seen this
evening, I & John fixed the boxes
to wash for gold it took us all day.
I am still looking for pat……

Th 26          Cool Last kt. The ground was fro
ze considerable this morning. We went
to washing for gold ot OB$ The day
was warm & pleasant late in the eve
ning it turnd some cool. One ought
to have seen me take up the ashes while
John was paning out the gold. They
had not been taken up for a month.
I dreamd of getting money of old
DrKeene & was in partner ship.

Fr 27           Clowdy this fore. & cleare & warm
in the after part of the day. We
were washing for gold. Old
bacon ham don’t agree with me
late bed time & John is baking
his last loaf of bread at this time
having baked two allready.
