Dec 55

Su 23          Clear cold & frosty last kt
I, wife & Liz tride to sleep toge
ther, it was too cold & the bed
was so verry hard we slepd but
little, after Breckfast over, we
dug up a sledge out of the snow
I went & got a young fir tree &
made half soles for the runners
tide on our luggage & put my
wide on, pd the land lord 10$
off we started 4 of us to pull &
Liz to get along the best she could
as soon as we got in the woods
the snow crest brok through,
so Dave went on to Gib ville af
ter our snow shoes & met us one
& 1/2 miles from Gib ville arrivd at
noon, took dinner 6$ & soon af
ter started for the onion vally, but
got to the foor of the hill & retund
again to the mountain cottage.

Mo 24         Clear & verry cold. Last kt &
all of to day after 10 a.m. paid
our bill 12$ we set out again wi
th some 3 men to help us & got up
the hill half was, but the wind.

Dec 55

blew from the N.E. so cold we was
afraid to risk the top, for fear of
freezing wife & Liz, we turnd about
again & went back to the moun
tain cottage put up for the day
I & john went out & got some tim
ber to make a knew sledge, we
succeeded in getting it partially made.

Tu 25          Christmas morning & cold yet
but moderated some & clowding
we set two & finished out sledge
& harnessed up. Pd our bill 16$ off
we started, we had gone 1/2 mile
when 13 men over took us to help
us over the mountain we halld
them mostly up to it top, some 4
retund the rest went on to onion
vally, we put up for the kt, the
men took a hour, eat dinner &
retund to Gibson ville, & snowing.

We 26         Snowd all kt & at this place
the wind blowing a heavy gale with
the snow falling fast, after late
breckfast we hitchd up paid
our bill & those that helpd us the day be
fore 18$ & askd aid to draw our
