columbus house in the stage
cold & foggy at marysville
Dinner 1$ at the oregon house
we got the columbus at 8 o
clk P.M. took supper 1$ &
Bed 1/2$

Th 7             & Breckfast 1$ I gave 6$
to ride a mule to gibson vill
& got my dinner there 1$ at
2 p.m. & then had to foot it 2
miles home whitch I did
a little after dark & carried
quite a pack spent 50 cts
for whiskey at the point

Fr 8              we all went to work inclu
ding cook a hired man, to
cleaning of tailing & top dirt
we did not clean up our box
es. all well. weather clear & cool
the moon has just rose above
the hills & the men have turnd
in there bunks & I will soon

Sat 9           quite cool of kts & mor
nings so mutch so that our
water in the ditch is near
ly Blockd up with ice till
noon, the sun melts the
ice some, shaw John & I
and cook a young man
that we hire was striping
to day though we got gold
2 1/2$ Lloyd & Lawrence striping

Su 10th     cool & clear we divided
our dust of the last two we
eks getting 111 1/2$ to the shear
after paying 23$ for the
compy for hired help to John
Bull, my lost time amt to
28$ for 2 pair of bum gloves
3 1/2$ I wrote a letter to H P and
sent him a check for 1500$
by F.H. Everett & co express
to board at 3 per cent a month
