Broke up at 11 P.M. & then to bed.
Su 24 Clear & frosty. Took breckfast
with Duesler. Calld on hun
dley, then on Judge Wards fa
mily. Had an introduction to
Mrs Vaughn. About noon we
all started for home. I had to
walk all alone. My lesson is
10th chapt of Revelations.
Mo 25 Clear & pleasant, the snow
is melting off fast. John went
over to Massac. I, Dave & Shults
were mining & got gold 13 1/2$.
The hose ripd we mended up &
was piping all P.M. Rains is now
at home, don’t know where he is.
I gave John12 1/2$ to pay Coffin
for the ditch that is in dispute with Twillegar.
Tu 26 Quite cold this morning wind
from the north. We were late in
getting out to work. We had to set
our boxes again in the deep cut &
did not get ready for washing
till noon. P.M. I had some sew
ing to do on the hose, we washd
a quantity of dirt & got gold 11 1/2$.
Bill got home late this evening.
The day has been rather cold.
We 27 Still verry cold. We did not

Th 28 Verry cold we did not go to
the diggins. I & Dave mended two
garden hoes. I then made 5 pick
handles. Fox came up in the P.
m. to get us all to go down to the
point to a dance, we refusd to go
but him & Frank came back wi
th mules for them to ride, so
we all fixed up except Dave &
