Feb 1854

Tu 7             Raind last knight. I was up this
morning before day. It cleard up at
day brake & sun came out beautifull
all day. We got gold 23$ 50, not bad
for three of us. I had some crofs words
with John this morning. He has got
in the habit of telling me that ime mad
if I speak to him in the way of a reprimand.
He did not go out to work until I came
back after him.

We 8            Fine day cold last knight
some clowdy this evening. We wash
for gold this morning 2 hours & got
41$ one piece weighing 29$. Then
we went to ground sloosing the rest of day.

Th 9            Some clowdy. Ground sloosing
commends raining at bed time.

Fr 10           Snowd some last knight & raind
pretty hard all day. We were ground
sloosing & got wet & cold at that.

Sat 11         Raind hard last knight & then
snowd before day. We got gold
9$ it was a beautifull sun shine
day but cool this evening.

Feb 1854

Sun 12 Cold last knight & clowdy
& snowing this morning very
fast & continued all day about 1 ft
deep if knew fallen snow on the top
of the old & hard. All three went down
to the point. I maild my 8th letter
to my wife. I paid 3 1/2 dolls
for sharpning 2 picks & putting steel
in one of the ends & drawing them out
out of the ends & drawing them out
out of the companys money, 50 cts for
turpentine for company, & paid
Lewis & Roots 17$ for Johns boots &
letters. I got blue flannel shirt on credit.
It is still snowing at bed time.

Mon 13       Snowd some little last knight
& all of the day. Sun Shine at intervals
Cold & Freezing to knight. We got gold to
day 10 1/2$. The south west side of ravine
the bank slid down with 4 small
trees on it & split two of our sloos boxes.
It took us all the afternoon to rite up.

Tu 14           Cold last knight & continues to free
ze in the shade & where we are at work. Got
gold 34 1/2$ our piece weighd 24 1/2$.
