Jan 56

Fr 4              The weather moderated con
siderable clowdy most of
the day, we finishd putting
up the ridge poles & a tree cut
& blocks sawd to make boards.

Sat 5           Rather warm & clowdy we su
cceeded in splitting & putting on
the Boards on the house the
shed is to cover yet, clowdy.

Su 6             Cleard up again, we were
buisey most of the day. I made
a shaving horse & some other
tinkering. David commensd to
make himself a chair, wife
did some mending. Shults &
Rains went down to the point
& reported a verry interesting
mock trial going on, in which
ch a Dutch shoe maker was
plantiff, John put 2 legs in
an old chair, I, Dave Liz
Shults & Rains were riding down
the hill on 2 slydes in the morning
I read the 3 last chapt of 2 and corin
thians.

Jan 56

Mo 7            Clear & not verry cold, we
all five was at work on the
cabin by noon the shed between
the cabins was coverd & timber
brought to chink the cabin.
p.m. Dave & John was putting
down the 2 corners under
the shed & hewing the end logs
under the shed & eat —-

Tu 8             Clowded up this morning & con
tinued all day, John & Dave fin
ishd the floor & sawd out two
windows, shults & Rains were
chinking the cracks. I was fram
ing up the door, after noon I did
nothing of consequence, the rest of
the boys done the same, they went
up the hill & halld down a slyd load
of wood, wife is verry mutch dis
pleasd with the language I use in
talking to her, or at least days she is –
we caught a grey squirl today
in our cabin & have him chaind
and in a box, at dark in clind
to mist or rain but slightly.
