July 1854

Tu 11          That they shall last me as
long as i mine it here ive
put false bottoms in them as
they ware out put in others

We 12         the boys gold gold 16$. I was
at work making boxes P.M.
I went down to the point to
get some nails & grind my
plain I then helpd shaw
to set up a new sloos box
John has been playing the
fiddle to Kt while his bread is baking

Th 13          we did not clean up for
gold. I John & shaw have
got colds & Lloyd has a sore
finger, the weather is fine

Fr 14           Lloyd did not work to day
on account of his finger
we got gold 11 1/2$

Sat 15        I have the piles that I could
not work & Lloyd cant work
on account of his finger, John
& shaw got gold 39$

July 1854

Su 16          Lloyd has a verry sore fin
ger with a fellow & I am not
able to go to work. John washd
some shirts for us & wrote
my 12th letter to my wife1
my lesson VI chapt of Mark

Mo 17         I & Lloyd went down to the
point I got 5 lbs meal 75 cts
& maild a letter to my wife 25
cts, John & shaw got gold 4$

Tu 18          I mended 2 shirts & pair br
eeches for my self & a shirt
for Jphn & Lloyd is got a bad
fing John & shaw got gold
-19$ I & Floyd is on the sick list

We 19         I cut out lining for my
new pants sewd it in all
most Lloyd & I went up the di
tch & let in quite all the water
there is 3 men at work. Just Below
the dam they said I must lea
ve them a sloos head of water
