June 58

We 23         commensd to pack up the sloos
boxes & tools, we set too boxes & let
the water in. I cleand out a sma
ll ditch to catch all the seap water
that was going to wast. p.m. we
run through all the old tailings
then cleand up & got about 2$
to day was my Birth day be
ing 47 years old, older than good

Th 24          we were out at work in not time only
we set 3 boxes higher up in the bank
thank they were & commensd to
sloos down, p.m. it raind quite
a shower did not clean up we
quit early & had supper then down
to the point sold out dust had 111$
the pd fox 18 1/2$ for Grub, pd
Cunningham 3$ for meal, pd fox
1 1/2$ for Express matter

Fr 25            we were a little late in getting
up some cool, to sloosing we went
but set 2 more boxes we made a
large hole in the ground the too
last days did not clean up

June 58

Sat 26         we cleand up the cut & also
the boxes & our gold was verry scearce
3$. we concluded to knock off whi
tch we did & got our dinners, I put
things to rights & washd off dressd &
up & went down to the point, I took
out my old cloth vest that I brou
ght from Ky. & burnt it to ashes
withe too shirts. I took my gun
made tracks for quincy. I arrvd
before sun set all well.
I let Jake have 20$ & the 3$ dust

Su 27          quite a frost in valy last
kt vegetation froze some, wheat
& other grain mutch injured —
the courthouse is up ready for
the rafters. was preaching in cou
rt house by Methodist minister
the hat was handed round of course

Mo 28         still another heavy frost froze
some potatoe vines, I rode up to
see Capt Riddle & diggins, he has
given a mortgage to the Rest of Compy
for 585$ & said nothing to me
bout it, I wanted them to set the
mortgage a side but they would not
