June 1854

Mo 26         we got Lilly Lane a sai
ler English man to come & sew
our hose again they keep a bu
rsting, shaw & I hewing out
some slabs at the bill for
sloos boxes. The Johns were
digging & got gold 7 1/2$.
considerable freeze the leves was
stiff this morning

Tu 27          The Johns got gold 13 1/2$. I
& shaw got our pipes & hose
to work again. The bank cas
ed in & caught my leg under
the dirt but no hurt

Th 28          cool Kts & warm days we all
got gold 11$ the Johns got about
one dollar. I dreamed Last kt that
I was in Georgetown & that my
wife put her arms a round my
neck & kissd me, but oh the ne
et moment how sad the dis
ppointment sleep had left me
& I lay all alone in my bunk
considering my disappointment

Th 29          fine weather we all at work
& got gold 40$ we sit about the
cabin doors as if we were exild
that still small voice that spe
aks within tells of better days
I hope I may come soon

Fr 30           we got gold 9$ alls well
the kotas has commensd to
howl again , our ravine
is still hard sement me & shaw

July
Sat 1           we got gold 38 1/2$ we seem to
be getting a long peacible & quiet

Su 2             Lloyd shaw & I went down
to the point & had 3 picks sharp
2 3/4$. I paid Thompson 75$ & sent
42$ to HP for 5 gum coats & 3 pair
boots by Snell & Co. & paid freight
on sauce 2$ & bottle bitters 1$ me
al 75 cts paper 50 cts nails 75 cts for
company & I was offerd 2000$ for
my diggins after supper I read
