June 1855

Su 3             I was awkd up this morning
at day Brake by the Robins & a
field lark singing. They seemd to
be doing their best. I got up & went
out in shirts tail but reter
nd again to my bunk, to indulge
a while longer. yes to think alone
at 1 hours sun I got up built afire
calld up John to get Breckfast, as
we usually had mutch to do stti
ng up & the gold dust to divide
Lawrance had 368$ that him &
Roister had taken out in last 2 weeks
of whitch I & John got 128$ & we
had 310 1/2$ our shear is 233$ i red
the 20th chapt st. luke. four of us
dressd up & went down to the point
& changd off 94$ worth of dust & pd
Rains 25$ besides sundrys 17 1/4$ & I
was orderd to work the road betw
en this & the court house by the
over seer on wednesday. I La
wrance came home eat dinner

June 1855

but early this morning I set a
brush heap on fire & burnd quite a
lot of old cloths among the rest
one of those coase towells wife put
in my trunk we thrown in the
first one. P.M. John did some wa
shing on my pants after supper
I wrote a letter to Lawrances wife
for him &c. I pd Thompson 5$
to pay expences to go over to the amer
ican vally & go my security in
the case with Lloyd &c

Mo 4            all six at work as usual. I &
John are digging away at our
stump, the weather could never
be pleasanter. The wind blows a plea
snt breez for 5 hours at noon, we got
gold to day 30 1/2$

Tu 5             I did not get up until the men
in the other cabin had started out
to work we got breckfast & went
out we was not long at work before
