March 56

Sat 15         P.M. I & Duesler was me
nding up the fence down the
road to Wheelers ranch.

Sun 16       Quite cold this morning
about 10 A.M. I & Duesler each
got a mule & helpd I. Jennings
to drive his cows to Jud kins
& Kated ranch, then we went
up to Massack diggins & saw
Dickson got our dinners & John
Blankettes & boots & other clothing
& went to the Illinois Ranch. Duesler
went home & I to my old mo
untain cabins, all deserted &
gone. I went in all the cabins
but no one to bee seen, the fires
gone out. O think what one week
has done for this once happy
group of inmates if it was but
for a short time, I picked up
my Bible & read the 10, 11, 12th
Chapts of Mathew, still in hopes
of some one coming home before
dark, but none is here save me.

Mo 17         Early Shults came up
from the point, he got brec
kfast. After putting things to
rights I walked down to the Wil
low ranch got the mule I left
there over kt. Pd 1 1/2$ for his keep
ing & now to the Am Ranch.
I met Dave & Bill 1 1/2 miles from
our cabins, after consulting
a short time I gave Bill 10$
to bear his expenses to M. Ville
my mule hire to Firman 10$.

Tu 18           I was looking around to see
what could be done & putting
up the fences. We go gold
last week 41$.

We 19         Early came Ed Linton with
his oxen & wagon to help me
sew some grain. I had to send
him to Judkins for 1050 lbs
of seed, plough & harrow
whitch he brought by noon.
The P.M. we did some ploug
hing.
