May 57

Mo 11         considerable snow fell last
kt. & verry unpleasant this morn
ing. we bald up 12 bales of hay
Rains halld a load of lumber
from Alfords mill for John Bafs
I & Conant went Emonds bail
for his mules &, the old darkey
gave me 3$. H. Bray & I settld
I took up my note of 141.$ & gave
a due Bill of 15$ & pd him 4 3/4$
the balance in vegetables & money
pd in Law suit.. I returnd, Boy
ingtons & comp note to Hogan
of 17$ to have a credit 1$ for sawing
sledge runners — I & Lem
rivated a tire on wagon wheel
raind and snowd at intervals all day

Tu 12           Rains halld ton hay over to
Wards Barn for Dr. Brewster at
32 1/2$ then Him & Lem went to the
woods made Load of rails halld them
in to make calf lot.. I & Dave went
to meadow vally with H. Huntington
to survey a water ditch on hill dig

gins between Rock & Spanish creek
we struck the diggins 100 ft below
the lowest part of the ridge &c.
p.m. Rains halld 990 tts hay to
Bates 22 1/4$ & brot back 13 3/4$ in lum
ber afterwards got moore rails &
finishd the calf pen north quincy
we got home after dark on foot

We 13         Lem sick, I & Dave went out to
see if the barly would come up or
what was the matter, some up &
some sprouting but I fear it wont
make half a stand, I & Rains hal
ld out some poles & forks off the
meadow ground. that used to be
the fence I suppose. then Rains
to ploughing for the Darkey in
Tod Robinsons garden. I was plan
ting beet seed. to finish my days
work. Rains Laid off & helpd to plant
the potatoes & covered with plough
I sold Robinson 50 tts potatoes for
seed at 4$ Williams handed me my
