ing up a great quantity of gold.
20 Some peices as large as my fist
& some smaller. I told of my
dream before I went there, so
in looking around I pickd
up a piece that weighd 10 1/2$ off
the ground. We staid all night
at the Amerr. Ranch. Bradley
is one of the proprietors that ma
rried a cousin of D. Dullivan
by the name of Lucinda Doggert
who says she will visit all of her
kin in Ky when she returns
from Cala. Ah, I heard a cock
crow. This vally near sister
Betsys is like a new town going
up log cabins. A great rush
for these new diggings.
Only been found a few weeks.

Nov 1853

Mo 21         John & I went out a pros
pecting with 2 others & took up
one who hill side & commensed
sinking a whole, so we took din
ner on the gorund near sister
Betsys cabin & shortly after
John & I left for home & left our
2 friends to finish the prospect.
I think id you was out here you
would be delighted with the clim
ate frosty nights but warm days.
The vally is several miles long
but narrow. In going up the
valley at this time we can see the
snow all round on the high
mountains & yet it is so pleasant
in the vally. There is from 10 to
20 females here sutch as they
be. Only 3 last year. We landed
