Nov 55

Su 4           I indulge in a morning lou
nge in my bunk, the sun had
risen before i got up, while breck
fast was preparing. I was minding
my dirty shirts after eating i pre
pard to wash three shirts & twp pair
socks, before I had finishd two two
strangers came & hinderd me some
time, dinner was had & I dride
one of the shirts to put on & all 3
of us went down to the point no
knews for me, Bill came from
Rabit creek & went home iwth us
sober & after supper I read 20 & 21 shapt
I gave 1$ for a bottle o fgin –

Mo 5            not so cold of kts & warm
days again the boys did
some sawing & splitting & I at
work on the hose, Thompson sent
us up a lot of provisions

Tu 6             pleasant weather in deed it is
rain we want the boys did so
me splitting of wood & finishd
sewing the hose all most to kt

Nov 55

We 7           after a late breckfast as staid
up till a late hour last kt we of
cours did not get up soon at all
events we found our selves going up
the ditch to put moore cross tim
bers to keep up the covering out of
the ditch, it has had the appearance of
rain all day, a few drops fell at dark

Th 8             befor I got up. I found to my
great gratification it was rain
ing as the drops on the roof of my
cabin was quite audible, howe
ve we all went out to the diggins
to work as the rain was quite
light. P.M. Jack went down to
the point & braught me up a let
ter of date sept 20th 551 from D
h smith giving an account of
the death of B.W. Finnell allso a
form for a releace of security for
me in the clerks office of scott
county ky as gaurdian for
my son & wishes John to sig
hn & reutrn the same to D.H. smith
