Mo 22       in my pocketts as we got ap
posite our cabins we met Tom
Jennings he turnd & went back with
us, we arrivd at his house some time
before kt, we eat & slept with them
while at Quincy, I saw the noted
personage Jim Becketh a molatto

Tu 23          Breckfast over we went to buis
ness & by noon the arrangements
was all under stood, we all took
dinner, we got P.O. Hundley esq
to Draw up the Mortgage for
3340$ on the Am Ranch baring
interest at the rate o f 3 per cent
per month to be paid qurtly. i
sold the Bass not to Bradley as
he was the man the money was
going to principal & interest 641$
he disounted 4 per cent per mouth
2 1/4 months on 1000$ amt to 90$. I
then had 269$ to raise in 10 days to
finish the Loan of 3340$ to I &
Tom Jennings, it is now understood
that I am a favorite among the ladies

We 24         after Breckfast Isac Jennin
gs hauld Duesler & me to the illin
ois Ranch in a 2 horse waggon a di
stance of 4 miles. Jack was there
we three started forthe Taylor
diggins all deserted excep some
Buck indians, we could get the
coulor every pan, we then star
ted for the socum diggins across
the mountains, we found our selves
on the brink of the Am Vally Dues
ler being cripple he put for the
illinois Ranch, but Jack & I tur
nd about & went 2 miles in the
forest & found the place 7 got a
pan of dirt & carried it back to
the vally 2 1/2 miles & did not so
mutch as get the couler it being
dark & 1 1/2 miles to the illinois Ran
ch & nothing to eat since Breck
fast it is ownd by Thompson & cop

this is all the money that ive had
to pay since I left home. we
waited till 10. o clk I & Jack star
