of garden p.m. commensd rai
ning. I set fire to the lop heap
& continued piling up till we were
quite wet & cold. I
had dug some potatoes in
the mean time, 2 sacks, witch
we had to gather up bad as we felt

We 8           clear this morning
once moore the mountains are
coverd with the new fallen sn
ow, & J.Russell came with his
threshing machine to get out
Halls wheat. I & Rains keept
the straw away for it.

Th 9            finishd threshing this fore
noon. p.m. Rains halld a
Load of slabs, I did nothing

Fr 10            we were fixing up the
root house, at it all day

Sat 11         we commensd ricking
up the straw, but wife Liz

and other ladies went over
to Nelson Creek, Rains went
with them P.M. I contin
ud putting up my straw
Su 12          all alone I’ve breckfas
ted shavd & Shirted & am
about to sally forth in the
open air & sunshine as the
frost is fast disappearing
Late wife & Liz came home
but Rains did not come
him and John went up to
the old mountain cabins

Mo 13         I recvd a letter from
John that our double
cabins had been set on
fire & burnd down with
all of our mining tools
Johns trunk & our gum
suits pipes & hose
I set a ded pine tree on
fire on yesturday burnd
