.    to help the Boys pick down
that intolerable hard sement
we soon broke the points of
all the picks though we
workd on till kt. Jake &
Mc has gone down to the
point to kt to have them
fixed again is verry wa
rm & has been for 3 days
We 9 Mc staid at the point as there
is quite a number of men going
up to the blue lead to day, Jake
came home last kt with the picks
all sharpd again, I found my
self on the way up to the blue
lead by my self, but I soon
over took too men & mules, but
when we got on the ridge we
were overtaken by several moore
on we went till we got on the di
vide between American vally &
middle feather river, we staid
on the supposd lead & got too
men to prospect, for Gravel & then

June 58

Th 10 we all three was cleaning up
Bed rock, p.m. we pickd down some
of that hard sement & cleand up
after supper I & Jake went down to the
point, we had 59$ worth of dust
I pd Fox 21$ grub bill or rather
his clerk Myres, I put a letter in
the Express & 125$ to go to Galloway
Hite & lo at Mville.  I then came
home Jake staid for the Kt.
Fr 11 Jake came up before we got out
of Bunks, with Beef & Butter we were
digging down all day without get
gold to trying, or cleaning up.
Sat 12 , we are still digging away in sement
noon came & no one has come
after me.  I went out to work a
gain p.m. but concluded that I
would go to the vally so I went aga
in to the cabbin, washd my self
put on my best goofs, shoulderd
my rifle & started, before I got out
of sighe of the canyon trail I saw
Dick & calld him over, I got on the
mule & soon made the vally &c
