I cam back & wrote in my jour
nal cloudy to day & looked like rain
I looked at Ben Yank fish a while
rained after supper Kyler & Iwe
ton came pretty near having a fuss

16th
we broke rocks all day we hired ben
Yank to day Dad & Kyler run all n
ight we got out the old cedar stump
nothing of particular interest to day

17th
broke rocks all fore noon. Ben wash
ed for us I’ve piped in the evening
& a large rock came down & we tur
ned the water on again Dad & Kyler
run all night nothing else to day

18th
we broke rocks all day Dad did not
work to day any his hand being so
re Miller & ned worked at night
Kyler being a little out of sorts

Mar 1857

Ben worked again to day we all we
nt out & rolled a stump off the slu
ces after supper for them commen
ced raining a bout sunset Ive blas
ted a rock twice to day nothing else I
believe uncommon

found it raining & snowing in the
morning but cleared off about noon
I’ve broke rocks all fore noon & tur
ned on the water after dinner but
the hose come off of the penstalk & we
broke rocks while Kyler fixed it
& we washed the ballance of the
evening or rather piped nothing else

broke rocks all day I put in a cou
pple of boxes at the head of the sluces
Dad went tot he valley after dinner
the flum broke down above the
point last night Ben
