9th Another beautiful day  ground sluced of some top dirt from under a large
Fr tree or log  worked very hard  got wet & cold  Yank came up after supper no more
10th worked in the forenoon clearing away logs mending boxes &c clear in the fore
noon  rained all evening  staid in the cabbin all evening  wrote some in
Sat my letter after supper  nothing more today
11th warm in the forenoon but clouded up & snowed in the evening  cut
down some trees in the ravine & cleared away the mud so as to set the b
oxes  done no work in the evening until late  moved the boxes from und
Su er the bank  done some washing after dinner  nothing new today
12th clear in the forenoon but windy & a little cloudy in the evening  went to the
point in the morning & took a letter to be mailed home  got wood after di
Mo nner also mended my pants
13th snowed very hard all day steady  done no work in the forenoon
went up to the ditch after dinner to see about the water  found it run
ning out at the middle floom  started it down as far as the last
